If life feels harder than it should, you do not have to manage it alone.
David Manks Psychology
David Manks is a Psychologist in Geelong offering counselling for individual adults and couples across the Surf Coast, Bellarine Peninsula and surrounding region, and via telehealth throughout Australia.
I work with individual adults and couples experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, sleep problems, grief and relationship difficulties. My work often involves long-standing or complex concerns, including chronic mood difficulties, past trauma, domestic or family violence, separation and divorce, and the pressures that can build over time in close relationships.
Sometimes the difficulties are obvious. At other times, they are harder to describe. You may simply notice something is not working as it once did. For many people, that is when they reach out.
You may have noticed:
Constant worry, overthinking or difficulty switching off
Low mood, fatigue or loss of motivation
Broken or unrefreshing sleep
Feeling stuck after trauma or painful life events
Conflict at home or distance in your relationship
Damaged trust, separation or divorce
Grief that feels heavier or lasts longer than expected
Irritability or anger close to the surface
Questions around faith, meaning or personal values
Adjusting to illness, ageing or major life changes
Therapy provides a place to talk openly, understand what is happening and develop ways to manage life better.
“Strength doesn’t come from what you can do. It comes from overcoming the things you once thought you couldn’t.”

Psychology Services in Geelong
Individual counselling and psychotherapy
For adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, sleep problems, burnout, grief or ongoing stress. Sessions provide a calm space to understand underlying causes and find practical ways to feel more settled.
For couples experiencing conflict, distance or uncertainty, or who want to strengthen their relationship. Sessions focus on communication, understanding patterns and rebuilding trust. Support is also available around separation and divorce.
For individuals or couples seeking greater clarity about what they are facing. Structured assessment of mood, trauma responses, sleep difficulties and relationship patterns can help make sense of concerns and guide a clear plan for therapy.
For welfare, counselling and health care professionals, including psychologists, who want a supportive space to reflect on their work. Supervision focuses on the personal and relational aspects of practice, supporting insight, confidence and professional growth.

Why choose this practice
I run an independent psychology practice where sessions allow time to explore your concerns. Drawing on many years of experience across private practice, hospitals and community services, I focus on understanding what has brought you here and working through it carefully. Together with our Practice Manager, Carol, we ensure the practice runs smoothly, and your experience is calm and supported from your first contact.
I draw on evidence-based psychodynamic and relational therapies, including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), interpersonal psychotherapy and attachment theory. Together, these approaches help you explore patterns, relationships and experiences that shape how you feel and respond to life’s difficulties. The aim is to understand what is happening and find practical ways forward.
Clients often say they leave sessions feeling respected and heard, with greater clarity about what to do next. Over time, many feel more confident and better able to manage life.

Take the first step
Reaching out can feel like the hardest part. We keep the process straight-forward and take it one step at a time.
1. Get in touch
When you call or send an enquiry, you will usually speak with Carol. She will listen to what is happening, explain fees and rebates, and help arrange a time to meet.
2. Meet with David
You are welcome to attend a free 30-minute introduction with me. It is simply a chance to talk, ask questions and see whether the fit feels right.
3. Continue at your own pace
If you decide to continue, we can take things one step at a time. Sessions are arranged at a pace that suits you, with no pressure or obligation.
Appointments are available in person in Geelong and by telehealth. Most clients access Medicare rebates through a Mental Health Treatment Plan. Private health rebates may also apply. This practice does not bulk bill.
